Taking screenshots of web sites is probably one of the most commonly done tasks on the internet - doubly so if you have a blog or work as a journalist. This week, we wrote about Thumbalizr, a service that lets you take screenshots of websites. However, there are several other tools for easy screenshot capturing - some standalone and some in the form of a browser plugin.

Save as image - an aptly named Firefox plugin that lets you save a page, frame, or part of either as an image directly from Firefox.

Pearl Crescent Page Saver - Save images of web pages in jpg or png format; save the entire page or just a portion of it, with the ability to automatically scale the image to a smaller size.

Picnik for Firefox - if you use online image editor Picnik this Firefox plugin enables you to easily import a screenshot of the currently opened webpage into it.

                Over the last few years, Google has improved its efforts to kill passwords forever. Announcing its support to Fast Identity Online Alliance (FIDO), the company is working on novel means to verify user’s identity when they access their online accounts. Motorola is mixing science with health and is exploring the application of Proteus Digital Health pill, which is has a unique ECG trace that can be used to identify users via external devices. Dennis Woodside, CEO of Google’s Motorola unit also spoke about flexible electronic circuits that can be used as unique passwords by embedding them into people’s skin.

1. The name GOOGLE was an accident. A spelling mistake made by the original founders who thought they were going for GOOGOL. Googol is a mathematical term 1 followed by one hundred zeroes.
2. Google started in January, 1996 as a research project at Stanford University by Ph.D students Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
3. 97% of Google revenue comes from their advertising services.
4. The biggest break in search came when Google introduced their improved spell checker seen as 'Did you mean?'. This feature doubled their traffic.
5. The infamous 'I’m feeling lucky' button is nearly never used. However, in trials it was found that removing it would somehow reduce the Google experience. Users wanted it kept. It was a comfort button.
